We really should stop assuming these are just stupid people and see them for the threat that they are, which are fascists with an agenda to impose their views on the rest of us. If they get into power again, lots of people will be fucked. We dismiss that at our peril.

I completely agree, with the caveat that “stupid” and “threatening” aren’t mutually exclusive, and it’s anyone’s guess as to whether stupid or brilliant is worse. “Stupid” can work just fine if your candidates are both useful idiots.
