I don’t particularly like defending Trump, but what I got from it was that since the wiped server is in the possession of the FBI, nobody is hacking it now. So the assumption would be that the Russians already have the emails, from previous attacks on the server. Which would mean that the Russians have already read them, but we would like to see them as well.
But I could be wrong.
