I do think it’s more about lazy reporting for clicks.
And I can’t even really blame that on the reporters. It’s the editors, and behind them the owners, who are picking the stories and setting the direction.
Just cavalierly going for the money, with blind faith that the rest of society will sort it out. And every time society manages to get it right in spite of the media’s coverage, owners feeling this approach is justified and thus continue it.
SIGH.
Fortunately the majority can be relied on to make the right choice almost all of the time, for the past 30 years. Here’s to all of us helping that to continue.
