Trump told Cohen to lie to Congress about The Moscow Tower Project

Um, how so? That’s unsatisfyingly cryptic.

This was posted last night after the BuzzFeed story broke. Chris Hayes is anticipating the barrage of news today (Friday) when it hits the mainstream news cycle along with Trump’s inevitable reaction and the fallout as Congressional Republicans react to being lied to on orders from the President.

Thank you!

We’ll see, I guess. Trump has weathered so much else that it’s tough to think I’ll stay glued to media outlets as things get really “nuts.” Many will though, driving up audience numbers and “justifying” the ginormous salaries of corporate-paid and owned celebs like Chris Hayes.

No. Is it weird that I want his ancestors dug up and put into the same cells?

Keeping things secret in a conspiracy is difficult, and the more people involved the harder it gets. When the conspiracy includes a lot of incompetent people, and people who have lots of other dirt on their hands, it’s impossible to keep it all secret.

The “deep state” is a great catch-all excuse, but conservatives need to fess up and realize they bet on the wrong horse. And “but Hillary…” is another dumb excuse-- however “crooked” she might be, Trump and so many in his administration are worse. Waaaayyyy worse. Provably worse.

I have to say, I keep expecting some bombshell to drop that turns out to be fake, planted by Trump or subordinates as some kind of half-assed maneuver to sow doubt on any other reports.

Well… since you asked…

Whenever I hear someone use the phrase “deep state” I do a mental find-and-replace with “rule of law” and it usually helps everything make more sense.

I think what makes this momentous is that like 2 days ago, the new candidate for head of Justice said basically, “I don’t think there’s much that’s grounds for impeachment, but one thing that definitely would be is [exactly what Trump is going to be accused of doing tomorrow, little to my knowledge].”

Makes sense, but in these times when that sort of “sense” has sailed off past the horizon, i’ll feel surprised if this scandal has any more traction than the previous 37 or so Trumpian shockers.

As they say, two people can keep a secret, if one of them is dead.

I’m a little perplexed by how fast it flipped from “Democrats not interested in impeachment” to “Democrats writing articles of impeachment.” If it was a bad idea last week, why is it a good idea now? Note, I’m not talking about justice here, but about strategy.

It would a complete cluster f’k all the way into the Supreme Court. Even assuming that McConnell and a significant number of his henchmen would play along. They won’t.

I think its a matter of developing facts. If they have solid evidence (i.e. more than just Cohen’s word) that Trump directed him to lie to Congress about his involvement with Russia that also implicates his garbage children, I say push ahead. If the Mueller report drops during the proceeding, pile that shit on.

Nixon told David Frost, “If the President does it, it’s not illegal.”

(Of course, Trump extends that principle to “if the President says it, that means it’s true.” Lord, have mercy!)

It looked to me like they were just being cautious while at the same time, feeling out how much support they could expect.
