ROC is decidedly not LHR. Each level of the parking structure is smaller than the lot for a modest supermarket. That building is separated from the 20-gate terminal by the width of four lanes of traffic, two sidewalks, and a median. Valet parking at our airport is either an accommodation to disability or a status symbol. Based on the handful of people I see actually using this service, the market that selects it is pretty obvious.
We have a habit here of pointing and laughing at peacocked trust-fund puppies who act like captains of industry while they milk their parent’s companies for the last dregs of value. Unfortunately, we have a lot to laugh at. It doesn’t in any way diminish the severity of the TSA’s misbehavior in this. But schadenfreude is one of the best entertainments left in this economically-troubled community.
