The fact that Carlson hasn’t apologized or distanced himself from these comments is an unspoken confirmation that he still thinks this way. That they’re ten years old is meaningless.
So Carlson thinks that Iraqis are “semi-literate primitive monkeys” and he has “no respect for their culture”, how can he explain that position except as part of some all-out war of his culture (however he defines it) versus everyone else on Earth? How does that position make the world a better place? I don’t doubt that he feels the same way about any culture besides one that originates in Europe, and he probably discounts some parts of Europe too.
