Underneath ancient Mexican temple, archeologists find an even older one

1150 or thereabouts, tbd - Tlahuica culture temple dedicated to Tláloc, the Aztec rain god.

1200s - Teopanzolco pyramid (some time in the 13th century.)

Was that your source of confusion? Or was it the general vagueness of dating, without providing any supporting news sources?

Or were you pointing out the typo in the BoingBoing post, that it should say “the structures on the Teopanzolco site date back to the 13th century” instead of “the structures are the Teopanzolco site date back to the 13th century.”

Now I’m confused.
