Maybe it was the legal department just changing the name because they wanted to prevent a possible trademark dispute 
I believe a lawsuit is merely a formal declaration of offense and dissatisfaction with outcomes.
Although, curiously, the lawsuit was brought by a member of a different tribe.

Navajo white is based on the off white background color in the modern Navajo Nation flag, as opposed to the skin color (or color of the skin decoration, as some etymologies have it) of native peoples.

I for one hate when such things change names. Things from old literature are then called differently than in new books, and it is confusing and time consuming, usually just to spare somebody’s tender feelings.
Bleh.
