According to the explanation I heard yesterday professional soccer players actually make most of their income through their contracts with a club team, so while this agreement is a huge win for equality it still doesn’t change the fact that most of the men who agreed to it will still be making more money than their counterparts.
Of course the top players in the NBA often make more money from endorsement deals than from their salaries too, so even if salaries were equalized (a tricky proposition since salary varies from player to player) the men would probably still make a lot more than the women.
