✌ Victory! ✌

I have landed in Frankfurt, and have a four hour layover before my train to Hamburg. I have not slept in 22 hours… but I am so hyped that sleep may not be possible. :grinning:

I could qualify this for lines, but that’d be dull effort: I finished my Linux Fundamentals 101 course from edX.org, two days before it is to be archived, took the final exam, and scored 100%.

Now to find jobs in which I could use this level of skill.

I installed a proper IDE (Atom) + Sass + Bourbon and got browser-specific extensions for flexbox working with the above. Even though there’s no meaningful documentation for anything in Bourbon. :no_good: Victory thread, not thread about things that grind my gears.

I also made 112 oz (3.3L) of stock and knit a bunch but those parts weren’t as stressful.

How can you fail with bourbon?

Somebody found the brown leather glove I lost and put it on top of one of the covered trash cans in the park; my boyfriend recognized it, so it was sitting next to its mate when I got home from work today. After the weather we’ve been having, it’s predictably soggy, but maybe it’ll still be wearable once it dries out. Aw, sometimes people are nice

Mutant meetup here in Hamburg!

Me, my fiancee and @jsroberts. There was tasty food, excellent tea, great conversation, and a nail-bitingly close game of Sentinels Of The Multiverse.

We won against Omnitron with less than ten hit points left among the heroes.

We usually don’t go out on New Year’s Eve, but somebody was having a party and we were invited, and we (okay, mostly I) decided we should get out and see some people. Usually when we’re at home on New Year’s Eve one of us sabers a bottle of champagne, ever since we learned how from a TV show, but nobody else gets to see it. So we took a bottle of bubbly to the party, and at midnight finally some friends got to see me do my thing. Got it on the first strike, too, which doesn’t always happen

I just wrote 1000 words for the day on the conclusion of my dissertation! I think I got some thoughts pretty well ordered!

I soloed with the first aodeadpool.org hit of 2017!

The departed, hockey legend and good Canadian boy Milt Schmidt, lived to be 98. I’d have had two points if not for the solo. The 2017 hits and standings pages on http://aodeadpool.org are not yet up ad of this writing,

I went to the doctor today, and asked for a referral to a counselor. This might be a small victory, but I’ve been working up my nerve to be honest with the doc for a couple of months, and I did it.

Late yesterday afternoon, I got an appointment for old friend/housemate (who can’t speak on the phone) with a head/neck surgery specialist, at 10:30 this morning. This is after getting past several other specialists.

Before it got dark, I transplanted a left handed car battery in a right handed battery slot with short terminal cables, so I could drive a car with snow chains that had been sitting idle for a couple years. Chains off in the valley, got my son to school, and a 2+ hour drive Portland. Made it.

I won’t go into the backstory, but it’s a major personal victory.

On the drive, we listened to this on a magnetic mixed tape.

Dad is finally home from the hospital. Though not without some final effed-up-edness: despite me asking on a daily basis, "what’s the timeline, when can we expect his discharge so I can arrange to be off work to pick him up, they call me while I’m at work to say, “we’re discharging him now, come get him.” It’s a one-person place so I couldn’t leave right away. But it’s done and he’s home and just maybe I can relax a little. :joy:

Lemme guess, a St. Joe hospital? They’ve done that to us with my SO’s mom a few times. Absolutely disrespectful of the fact that almost no one can just drop everything in order to pick someone up at the hospital.

No, Oakwood in Dearborn (now part of Beaumont.) For the most part, it was a good experience. The nurses were the best part, they were knowledgeable and helpful. But the difficulty in getting information was incredibly frustrating, and not bring able to drop everything to go get my Dad made me feel absolutely horrible. We both dozed after getting home. Right now he’s doing fine.

Stay safe! It is utterly crazy outside right now.

Sweet FSM, is it possible that this has become SOP at all our local hospitals? It’s infuriating.

It’s good to hear your dad’s doing well.
