Considering the government is chummy with Russia, China, Cuba, Iran, N Korea, etc it would be in the best interest of the US to do something. Civilians are also literally dying from hunger and are imploring anyone and everyone to intervene. The US is far from the only country trying to help, but you don’t see that in the news here in North America because it’s all about what the US is doing or not doing. Any time there’s a crisis or disaster elsewhere it’s always framed in what Americans were affected or how.
Even though the US may be putting their influence in this, trust me this isn’t about the US.
