Video of Hollywood celebs "refusing to clap" for winner goes viral

You’re too kind. Literally too kind, since if anything I’m lazier than the average Hollywooder. I find clapping physically uncomfortable, and it soon gets painful to me (maybe I’m doing it wrong). So I dole out my claps with careful deliberation. I’m among the last to start (unless the moment is particularly important to my beliefs and enthusiasms and/or people I love), and among the first to stop, and I’m really reluctant to join a standing ovation unless it’s genuinely well-earned (which, to my mind, is and should be rare).

I wish I liked applauding more, since I dislike being so stingy. I try to make up for it by being a generous tipper, and supporting the arts whenever my wallet allows. And smiling enthusiastically at the cast/bandmembers/honorees on the stage. I’d whistle except for two reasons: never learned how to whistle loudly, plus I’m averse to becoming That Guy.

But clapping? That’s for these guys:
