That is the nature of the One Bad Apple, it infects the others. How do people keep forgetting that that is the meaning of the metaphor?
If anyone says “one bad apple”, remind them that unless that apple is removed from the metaphorical basket, all other apples will soon rot and the entire bunch will be spoiled.
