In China, socialism and communism are whatever the Chinese Communist Party says they are. Whatever the Communist Party says and does is communism by definition, because the Communist Party is doing it. That “socialist values” sign is there to remind you that whatever is going on now is socialism, so STFU already if you don’t like it.
You can get into very serious trouble if you study and interpret Marxism in ways the Party doesn’t approve of.
