Watch how TV news reporters go on camera from home, including bloopers

Anything that humanises people on TV is fine with me. Heck, I’ve gotten some design inspiration from some people’s rooms.

I do wonder how some of the professional on-air talent handles things re: makeup. I recall an anchor from one newsroom I worked in who, without the studio’s makeup artist’s help, looked like a 12-year-old girl even in ordinary make-up. There was another reporter who had severe acne scars and tried to get made-up in studio before going out to cover his stories. Both were fine journalists, but video cameras (NTSC pro in those days, hi-def consumer now) are unforgiving and can do a number on the talent’s ego. If the circumstances of the pandemic help undermine the plastic-fantastic TV news aesthetic, though, I’m all for it
