Honestly, I feel the opposite. That phrasing is a key part of “innocent until proven guilty”. Police and reporters don’t determine guilt, no matter what. So to me, the fact that everyone religiously says “suspect” and “alleged” is a sign that everyone is well trained in this idea and the system is working as it should (at least in this one specific way- I don’t mean to imply the system is in any way fair or unflawed. Fully acknowledging here that it’s deeply racist and broken in most ways).
