the other day i heard rod stewart’s “young turks” in a dream, i can only assume because i’ve been reading this book on t.e. lawrence which discusses the political movement in passing.

It would be very interesting to see if there is any intersection between this research and the theories of Julian Jaynes - Origin of Consciousness theories. They posit that we used to actually hear our inner thoughts as instructions generated by society’s rules and norms about how to behave. Almost like commands from God. I am not an expert, but there’s definitely a connection here.
Edit: I checked the references - the answer is no. These silly researchers and their desire for actual careers in lieu of studying something that is far more fascinating but ultimately impossible to prove.
