I think the issue here is that most people aren’t having “a meaningful discussion of science.”
I knew a guy who didn’t believe in God in the slightest. Told me he believed in evolution without understanding it. That’s an honest admission. I can absolutely accept that plenty of people believe in evolution without understanding it. Why not? You can be right on a hunch. You can be right with faulty reasoning. And you can be right with no reasoning at all.
