Or perhaps he’d discover that it was an organization of racist white conservatives. After the Civil Rights Act the party affiliations of that group swapped which is easily discoverable by looking at election maps in the South today. The Democrats dumped them, the GOP pandered to the racist white conservatives in the Southern Strategy, and here we are with members of The Party of Lincoln advocating secession, venerating the Confederate Battle Flag, and occasionally claiming/believing that ending slavery was a mistake.
MLK was a socialist and wasn’t a member of the GOP or Democratic parties.
I think black people understand both their circumstances and which political parties better represent them quite a lot better than you. You see, the idea that black people are dependent on the government because of Democrats is both false in the sense that it singles out black people as a class as being a servile dependent powerless group of “takers” and ignores other groups that use the same benefits that black people do, and it’s also shallowly racist. The GOP’s solution to the “problem” is to cut taxes on rich people while cutting services to the poor and especially poor black people. Were they to decide to get behind the GOP they wouldn’t really be making anything better for themselves (or anyone else besides the richest).
