What it was like to be an airline passenger in the 1930s

Eh. There simply weren’t that many of them and they didn’t fly all that much by comparison to fixed wing aircraft.

Over Zeppelin’s history, they flew passengers about 4 million miles and had 13 passenger fatalities. US airlines between 1927 and the end of 1936 had flown about 362 million miles with 181 fatalities. (fatalities per passenger-miles would be a better way to compare, but I can’t find that for Zeppelin anywhere.)

Dang, using the highly flammable nitrate film from the 1920s onboard an airplane just seems like they were begging for trouble. I wonder if it resulted in any disasters.

Aeron style mesh backed chairs come from a fine pedigree of wicker. Kinda like looking at photos of hundred year old electric cars.
