He concentrates on the loud obvious examples, but doesn’t mention the quiet cancel culture where if the major media outlets are all owned by old rich white guys, there will be some viewpoints that will always be off the table.
I mean, shouldn’t not holding ACTIVE racists, misogynist, homophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, antisemitic beliefs be a baseline for being charge of a news room, FFS? How is this difficult, people?
In the situation described with the type of platitudes in the video, there will be an open letter addressing this one in a major publication any day now. Since that is not going to happen, it’s a fantasy to not address the realities of structural power on speech.
