I’ve had smart cats, but our current one is baffled by a door cracked 1/2" open. Dumb as a box of rocks. One he went into the school parking lot next door when it’s gate was swung open, he was caught like minnow in a trap by the pocket formed by the gate and fence. He just couldn’t see that turning away from home would get him home.
