Ah! I can smell that warmed-up PCB from here…
I used to mess around at home with breadboards, I even got a job where I could get paid to have fun soldering, and then I went into IT and… lost my way.
We had stereo microscopes for working on the boards, especially for those tiny SMT components like this guy’s MOSFETs. (I saw resistors smaller than that.) We had hot compressed air (later, nitrogen) to heat up the solder for (re)placement, but too much & it could blow the “thawed” pieces around the board.
