You don't want to know where Trader Joe's foods come from

Me too, it’s a 25 min drive from where I live.

The OPs issue is actually described on wikipedia - no surprise here:

Market Basket is the best. I remember when they set up a store literally behind a Stop & Stop. Everytime I went shopping, Market Basket would be packed and Stop & Shop was anemic.

I do know they make the annual Vintage ale. Every year I buy two bottles, keep them a year, the missus and I open them up on New Year’s Day and go through our calendar of events for the past year.

Neat, will try to remember that beer then, do you know when they stock them usually?

i rather like buying single bottles of beer as a special treat for myself. I’m currently storing two bottles of Westvleteren 12 (considered some of the best brews, i can’t say if that’s true or not yet. Been saving it for a good occasion for a year now). I also have been saving a bottle of Xocoveza by Stone brewery, it’s basically a chocolate stout. Also been looking for a good excuse/moment to enjoy it.

I want to say from November until they run out sometime after the first of the year. For 5 bucks it’s certainly worth it if you’re a fan of La Fin Du Monde or La Terrible.

I think i’ve had both, for certain i know i’ve had La Terrible. I tend to like darker beers so seems like the Vintage Ale is right up my alley. And yeah 5 bucks a pop is pretty cheap, usual i pay is 8.99 and up for bottles of that size

Look for Trader Joe’s Vintage Ale. Buy in bulk and age them for a few years! My dad has a rotating stash going back a few years.

Boing boing isn’t a news gathering organization. They are a blog that aggregates things that the authors are interested in around the web. Not the same thing as Mother Jones, NPR, or Pro-Publica.
