I was recently booking some travel for the fam, and there were some decent prices and departure times on American. But I ended up booking elsewhere because almost every single RDU->NYC flight by American included a 30 minute layover in Charlotte.
Now Charlotte is relatively small and efficient for a hub, but I don’t know in what universe American has decided that a 30-minute layover is adequate. One minor weather or mechanical delay and you’ve already missed your connection. And yet it seems to be part of their standard practice for RDU connections.
Anyway, since I didn’t want to end up stranded 90 minutes from home at the American terminal due to some avoidable snafu, I picked a different airline with acceptable layovers. (For more money, natch.)
