Austin Grossman's YOU, now in paperback

I read You when it first came out. Great book!

I thought the first half was great, but the book fell off hard towards the end. It should’ve stayed focused on game design/development, and not rope in a hokey romance and an absurd (in a bad sense) “FOR THE FATE OF THE ENTIRE WORLD” plot point. It felt like the author wasn’t satisfied with having interesting, informational bits about game development back in the day, panicked, and made it “more serious”.

Sounds similar to the plot of “The One Game” - the best TV miniseries ever made ever -period.

Relevant: this movie.
