Long videos tend not to get as many comments. Even assuming someone watches the video right away, that’s still an hour before they finish watching it. Then the person has to remember to go back to the comment thread and post something. And it’s a lot easier to remember to comment on something if other people are commenting on it. Which they’re not because they haven’t finished watching the video.
