Welcome to the world of the “forgotten men and women”, Nancy. Someone will be along shortly to tell you to suck it up and keep paying your taxes.
Your parents are good people.
I paid taxes. The whole time I was getting “free handouts”. Most years I got a small refund. One year, my boss started a new bonus program for me. He was a real estate agent and I got a bonus whenever I had all the escrow paperwork in perfect order on closing day. I got a lot of bonuses that year, bonuses that he didn’t take taxes out of. I owed quite a lot in taxes that first year, that I had to pay in installments.
Daycare comparable to university in terms of expense. It’s not teaching parents how to save for university, it’s teaching them how to pay for university without savings. If you are poor you should probably start socking money away into a childcare fund when you are 13 or so.
