I had a similar experience in college. And by similar I mean I thought a random house miles from my apartment was my house, and the house was locked so I was trying to break in. In my defense, I was really, really drunk at the time. Fortunately, the homeowner didn’t shoot me (this was in Texas), and the police found the whole thing hilarious.

In my early twenties I was renting a room in a big seven-bedroom house full of other young adults. One night they had a party that I wasn’t very interested in so I went to bed early. I was awakened much later by someone trying to get into my bed. Naturally I screamed, and it brought my housemates running. Turned out to be a guy who had previously lived there and had had the room that I was in. He had gotten so drunk at the party that he forgot that he didn’t live there anymore, and he thought he could just go upstairs and go to bed. Scared the heck out of me.
