If you’re in Tokyo start dragging her to the Edo Tokyo Museum’s outdoor building collection outside of Musashino-shi. Wax nostalgic long enough about the thatched roofs and Meiji period Western-Japanese combos and she’ll be excited to settle for something from this century that doesn’t require lighting a fire under the bathtub. (Personally I love the old buildings and would love to refurbish one sometime.)
