That’s messed up. For the record, I’m not planning to steal business from my former employer. Just saying I think I could - but it’s moot.
No, they just want all the money, and will use any old bullshit to get it.

That’s more reasonable, though I do prefer California’s approach of just not allowing noncompetes. Living in California, I forget how many labor protections exist in this state that don’t nationwide.
Just checked Oregon law. There’s a bill in the senate now to void noncompetes, but business groups are opposing it. As it stands in Oregon, though, noncompetes are limited to exempt employees making
over $70k. That’s still pretty low.
