I do have an alexa and I wouldn’t call it indispensible but I use it daily:
- Alexa, set a timer for 20 minutes
- Alexa, remind me to water the lawn in 90 minutes
- Alexa, turn off bedroom lights (already cozily in bed)

No it isn’t. It’s YT without THE ALGO, etc. There’s a lot of extreme right for obvious reasons but, the membership is growing more diverse as all kinds experience unreasonable constraints on content.

I’ve thought Alexa was creepy ever since I saw one for the first time. Then, I think it was even here on BB, I read an article about Alexa recording a couple having sex. During the pandemic, my employer said, “Uh, if you have an Alexa or Google Dot or Siri in your home office, please remove it.”
I just don’t like the idea of making it easy for my corporate overlords - even my corporate overlord doesn’t want to go there!
