An anarchist community bookstore had the best response to getting robbed

I’m not sure I see the logic of their reply. They are basically saying:

"If you ever need $150 - just throw a brick through our window and take the cash register contents. Don’t worry - we won’t call the police and even if you do get caught we will actively work to make sure you aren’t punished."

Is that the best approach?

Anarchism ≠ “no rules”.

Anarchism = “no rulers”.

And the store did not call the Authorities e.g. the police which is kinda my point. This book store is following through on their beliefs instead of virtue signaling

im an individualist anarchist who favors illegalism. tax them and rob them.

Seriously, that’s some admirable walking the walk and the talk there. This is the kind of role model that we who call ourselves anarchists need.

And thank you (ditto to @SheiffFatman). I know the correct definition needs promulgating, but I am truly fucking good and tired of this misconception.

Possibly, though it’s perhaps worth noting that anarcho-socialism includes more than just anarcho-communism. @the_borderer in particular has been inspiringly patient and diligent about pushing back against a lot of monolithing and misconception about anarchism.

Was the bird harmed/searched/valuable?

Perhaps anarchism = no hierarchy

I could be wrong but I think the logic is more:
a)whoever did this is probably isn’t being well served by the status quo.
b)that such a minor “crime” has a reasonable impact on us probably demonstrates we too probably aren’t well served under the status quo.
c)can we organise life/economics better than the status quo?
d)lets at least act as if c) were true.

Anarchism has many forms, some are socialist and others aren’t, but “anarcho”-capitalism, national “anarchism” and “anarcho”-monarchism aren’t as they are hierarchical by nature.

This shop describes itself as a social anarchist bookstore but it is rare that they specialise on one form. It is just as likely that they have books about Max Stirner as ones about Peter Kropotkin. They probably don’t have any about Murray Rothbard though.
