Associated Press Style: No more capitalizing internet and web

The AP is clearly in the wrong here. I know because I have The Internet on my computer:

I still insist on using the term E-mail. “e-mail” just doesn’t sit with me.

But that does happen from time to time, though not always by plan: a key line goes down somewhere and then you will see a report that the affected region has been cut off from the Internet. Then, locally, you could say they had ‘an internet’, in a localized sense, but they were separated from the global Internet.
