BofA once paid a check I’d told them was fraudulent, out of a closed account. I knew some of my checks had been stolen, so I closed that account and gave the bank the stolen check numbers.
A week later I got an overdraft notice to the tune of $500. They paid the check that I very specifically told them not to pay. From, again, a closed account.
When I pointed out this was exactly what I was trying to prevent when I closed the account, they backed down. It’s not MY fault if you do exactly the thing I told you not to do. But that’s when I stopped banking with BofA.
So way way back when I switched to the credit union and closed out my BoA account the teller was polite gave me the fityish dollars I had left and said all was good. Fast forward a month and I get a statement saying I owe maintenance for the empty account… wtf?!? I go in they fix it and ‘close the account again’. One month later same thing. I go in again and get all pissed off with an actual banker right away rather than a teller. That finally fixed it.
They have been a bastion of evil and stupid for a long long time.
It seems that you are working from an outdated script.
It also seems that you have skipped last month’s grammar refresh unit.

My MIL had a fair total in BOA and Wells Farko. After she passed away my wife moved it all to other institutions. Now we get better service and much better interest payments. Personally, I do not understand why anyone would bank with BOA.
