The White House announced an end to a policy that allows for a 12 month “paywall delay” in releasing federally funded research. The delay existed only so journals could profit from a window of exclusive access to the research.
The announcement orders an end to the practice by 2026, which is about 4 years too long, but at least it’s ending.
