Bill Nye the Science Guy, the complete series, on a tablet

My niece is getting to the age where she can start school soon. Her birthday is coming up and I’d like to give her Bill Nye the science guy on a tablet such that:
the only thing the tablet can do is play videos.
the only video’s it can play on on the SD card.
the UI for playing videos is easy to use, like say netflix.

Does this sound like something that’s feasible with off the shelf apps? I can install CyanogenMod or root the device if required, though I don’t want to write any apps.

I’ve never even looked into this but what you’re looking for is a kiosk mode, perhaps something like this?

I have never used this app so beware, but I’m sure the play store can help you find similar software.
