I’m glad. I should have been passed decades ago.

Agreed.
Long overdue.

Trying to end on an upnote here–I find this noteworthy, relevant, and somewhat hopeful:

tl;dr:

The findings suggest “that people who are high in RWA will be prejudiced in prejudiced societies but may be tolerant in tolerant ones,” the researchers wrote in their study. “We also showed that the indirect effect of RWA on behavioral intentions toward outgroups (via prejudice) is moderated by social norms. (…)"

Some good news from the Smithsonian museum as a small portion of the countless cultural artifacts looted from Subsaharan Africa are repatriated to their native Nigeria.

What the heck, man. If they needed a POV character to tell the story then Emmett’s mother Mamie was right there. She was a huge part of the reason most of us even heard of her son in the first place.

I’m not sure which makes me feel worse in this first one, that he could’ve been shot or the internalized racism that led to the call…

Experts said, however, that those unhappy with the results had limited options. Earlier census figures already have been used to reapportion seats in the House of Representatives and state legislatures, among other governing bodies.

Seems like the census count went exactly as planned.

The census count is off even during a “normal” administration; let alone during the nonstop insane fuckery that was 45’s.

A good rebuttal to the ‘cancel culture’ NYTimes opinion piece “I Came to College Eager to Debate. I Found Self-Censorship Instead,” by a white ‘conservative’ student at the University of Virginia:

you know that writer of the nyt piece went to college hoping to get “cancelled” and, as far as i can see reading her essay, she barely got treated to more than a few eye-rolls. what an asshat and whoever it was at the nyt that gave prominence of place to that silly essay is an asshole as well.

edited for spelling.

I will bet you that she’s the daughter of a NYT staffer or a wealthy friend of one. That’s how it often works at the Gray Lady.
