I’m still waiting for a reason to plug in the pair of surround speakers that came with the 5.1 digital speaker system I have for my Mac Pro.
Probably not much. The patents on QSound (and its competitor SRS, which I love) have run out, so other companies are free to do 3D sound using head-related transfer functions.
