California ballot initiative to make state university free again by reinstating inheritance tax for millionaires

Thankfully the internet didn’t exist back when I was in elementary school, and even if it had, my mom’s an independent thinker who reads actual books and newspapers.

Hey, I’m not mad at anyone who has a problem with the inherent responsibilities that come with living in a society, as long as they’re willing to forgo all the benefits that come with it as well.

They are perfectly free to go live ‘off the grid’ like good little rugged individualists; forsaking paved roads, readily available electricity, motorized vehicles, indoor plumbing and everything else that taxes are supposed to fund.

you call bullshit on what? That I believe the tests are not being used as intended and creat a ridiculous and unnecesary stressful enviroment for kids in kindergarten? I have found a pattern on this storie’s comments. People dont actually read comments befor foaming at the mouth and personally attacking anyone they deem not part of their herd.

Better than not actually looking at reality before foaming at the mouth.

Cant speak for California never having lived there but here in Japan its pretty common for people to lose family homes or businesses due to estate taxes.

Perhaps both your parents are alive and hopefully well? I just got back from sorting out my fathers affairs after his passing. Aint no fucking lottery.

I’m sorry for your loss. I hope that your family’s remembrance of his life provided some comfort.

Thanks for the kind words. For me it involved giving away as much of his stuff as possible to local charity as that was how he lived his life.

He was meticulous about end of life planning but none the less, death is not a simple matter legally or tax wise. In that regard it was far better that he chose to live out his days in the USA rather than accept my offer of moving him here to Japan. My wife would have lost her family home and so on were it not for her mother having some advance planning. All told, all she could end up keeping was the family house (built >150 years ago).
