Not at all I think fifty years is fine, when the music was recorded, if they bothered to find out, they had an expectation of fifty years so moving the goalposts isn’t fair. By the same measure moving them to five would be unfair and could have unintended consequences.
The youtube example was about how the genie is out of the bottle. If you look at the number of views some of those albums are getting, if half a percent of the views went on to become purchases then the artists would be doing a lot better than they are. And then there’s straight out piracy Advertising and film/TV are some of the ways that musicians can still make some good money and a five year rule will probably hit that pretty hard.
