Charter schools are turning into the next subprime mortgages

Ah, the sarcasm “/s” sign. Also much, much easier than presenting evidence to support an assertion. But don’t give up on the gifs when you have nothing substantive to add!

Short form forums like this are the Great Decontexulaizer. Often times even obvious nuance is lost. Noone is really attacking each other.

Charter schools aren’t bad. More schools and choice isn’t bad. However the peculiar relationship between US standardized testing, profit motives, and union busting in education is in my opinion quite bad.

Three close friends are teachers, and one is on the board of a new charter school. They are doing their damnedest, but even the well intentioned charter school teacher is aware she is pulling students from public schools that will ultimately degrade those public schools performance.

So take my opinion as you will. I appreciated public school, and my educators cared for us weird mutants. So my bias is toward improving public school, not more charters.
