Child in wet bathing suit made to stand in -5F weather because school policy forbade her from waiting in teacher's car

You can lie on the floor right next to the hot door and stay toasty warm.

Thereā€™s an episode of ā€œThe IT Crowdā€ in which Roy obsesses to understand how his girlfriend could have been orphaned by a fire during a family visit to a water park, while attending a show of acquatic mammals cavorting on cue in a massive reservoir of water.

chuckle Thanks for evoking the memory.

No engine car should be running if thereā€™s no one to operate, if it can be avoided. No, the teacher should have sat in the car. Period. Any system that punishes people for sane behavior needs to be abolished.

Sure. But thereā€™s no harm in a teacher standing right there trying to flag down more help.

It sounds like (from the article, at least) this was a case of somebody actually pulling the fire alarm, not a fire drill (the girl is quoted saying that a teacher told her that they donā€™t usually run fire drills in the winter). Itā€™s still stupid though - barring any immediate danger, the girl should have been allowed to get her clothes. Unless she had to run through the fire to get to them.

Also, to the people making ha ha funnies about a pool burning down - thereā€™s still a big heavy flammable roof over top of the pool, one presumes, yes?
