Comer threatens PBM execs with fines, jail time over 'fraudulent' hearing

So here’s a bit of good news! Seems the CEOs of the three largest Pharmacy Benefits Managment companies were caught lying to Congress, claiming “our firms do not steer patients toward pharmacies owned by the PBM or its affiliated companies.”

Since anyone who has the misfortune of being “insured” by one of these rapacious giants (literally 80% of Americans are “covered” by one of these three), we can all clearly see this isn’t true. For example I have Express Scripts, and they won’t pay out unless I fill my prescriptions at CVS or via the Express Scripts mail-in pharmacy. When the difference between them paying out is $100 out of my pocket or $3900 out of my pocket, it matters rather a lot. And when the medication is chronically unavailable, it would be helpful to have the option to buy it elsewhere that doesn’t cost me $3900.

Go on, Congress, show us you can turn on your owners and do the right thing…
