Regardless of whether or not Oumuamua is an alien vessel, we could have had thousands of quiet vessels like that go by in the last couple of millenia without noticing.

One thing is sure: As our instrumentation gets better, we are going to see more weird crap zing by.

That’s for sure. Sadly I suspect Oumuamua will look relatively normal eventually, but we’ll see.
