Cops chase innocent shoplifting suspect into stranger's house, then storm it with 50-person SWAT team and blow up every room except one

Well, well, what do you know. They got a competent lawyer and are suing the pants off that PD, individually naming the defendants and seeking all manner of remuneration for the destruction of their family home. Good for them. When I read that complaint, I remarked to myself that it was extremely detailed and well-written. I hope they are successful and get a ton of money. I feel bad about that lost WWII relic, whatever it was.

I like the juxtaposition of these sections:

16. The Defendants blasted holes in all windows and doors of the Lech Home. Rubble from the blasts was strewn about the property. The interior of the Lech Home was a mass of debris and destroyed belongings from the projectiles launched into the home by the Defendants. Chemical munitions or other projectiles were stuck in the walls. The Lech Home was completely uninhabitable and its condition posed a danger to anyone entering the home.

and

18. Plaintiffs John Lech, Anna Mumzhiyan, and D.Z. were told by the Defendants that they could return to the scene to pick up some of their belongings and that there was “some damage” to the Lech Home. They were never offered a place to stay that night and were never told that their home was completely destroyed requiring a new permanent place to live.

The claim for the hunting dogs is a nice touch too.

I think the ring is the WWII heirloom?

38. A ring and family heirloom that survived through WWII Italy was never recovered from the Lech Home.

HUH, well that is interesting. I think you are right. I read the “and” and thought of two different things. But, upon re-reading it, the ring is an heirloom AND it’s a WWII relic because it says “was” not were, so there is 1 thing not 2.

My heart sank when I read about the two dogs. Only one could get away. The other one who stayed was covered in chemicals and likely suffered major trauma.

We just had a very bad dog incident. My dog was at the vet’s for a teeth cleaning which for some dogs must be performed under general anesthesia. And then the next day, she was at the groomers for 5 hours, because she had to wait her turn and then she is very furry, so she needs a long time, and then waiting for us to pick her up. Then that night, my son had his friends over and we had pizza and dumbass me, I fed her a TON of pizza crust. Well, the stress of the week and then a shitload of pizza crust made her stomach flip.

If you’ve never heard of it, it’s called GDV. It’s a kind of bloat that happens when stress and overeating combine to make the stomach twist and seal itself off at the front and back, and nothing may enter or exit and the abdomen puffs up. It is very painful. It will not “unflip” itself. Eventually, the dog will die because the blood vessels are cut off, killing the stomach, and the bloat causes the vessels to pull off and damage the spleen. The only solution is a two hour surgery. So, I took her in, and $5,000 later, she is fine now. I love her, and I would have spent ten or twenty thousand, if I had to.

I say this because dogs, as lovely and rough-and-tumble as many of them are, are sensitive creatures. Too often I hear about police just shooting or kicking dogs who are only doing their job. And these two dogs at the Lech’s are definitely different now after what happened last June. Poor things.
