Nonsense. That’s a terrible idea. It’s so much more efficient to have the drug be produced by a predatory cabal of heavily financialized profit-seeking institutions which you aren’t allowed to negotiate with.

I mean, a factory synthesizing a 1950s drug would require people and some equipment and a certain amount of direction. How on Earth can the American government furnish that?
