Do you like party games and music history? Try HITSTER

Are there any hopes of an Apple Music version or other providers coming?

I know there’s a free Spotify tier, but I try to keep my investments of attention to evil empires limited.

I also prefer Apple Music. But alas, on the game’s official FAQ:

Can I use YouTube music, Apple Music, Deezer or any other music streaming service?

Yes, you can. But in that case, one player has to manually search for the song on the song card in the preferred music streaming service instead of scanning the card with the HITSTER app. You can decide to choose one player as the DJ for the entire game OR take turns in playing the song by passing your device to the next player on each turn.

And this all brings me back to the idea that the worst thing Spotify has done to our society is to take the good parts of early-00s Napster/Limewire — i.e., distribution and socialization — and consolidate them into a single for-profit enterprise.

I could “yes, and…” that all day.

Either way, I’ll probably still win, though.

I’ll take you on, mofo, if you’re ever back in Ithaca. I’ve been playing https://yeardle.heardledecades.xyz/ for months and can now semi-reliably tell late '90s, early '00s, late '00s, and early '10s apart. It’s still a big thrill when I say “…I dunno, 1957??” and yes it is 1957!
