Nope! One simply has a strongman with many guns (and help), one doesn’t. Both cyptocurrencies and standard currencies fulfill the exact same functions; the only difference is in administration.

@anon73430903: That list isn’t meant to be all-inclusive, as I mentioned at the time; it’s just a set of examples that immediately refutes the silly claim that you can’t buy things with Bitcoin.

It is quite an important difference though.

But yes, your point that Bitcoin is in most respects no different to any other token of value/exchange seems right to me.
