Is that a V-Tec in the picture? You can work on them, but there’s parts that only Honda can supply.
It would also be good to have access to tools and documentation to hack the engine and gearbox management units and proper documentation for CANBUS or equivalent. Entirely happy for the manufacturer to be able to keep it under wraps until the warranty period is over, but after that the owner should be able to hack the ECUs at their own risk. A win-win surely? If I screw up I need to buy spare parts …
I’d give a lot for true documentation of the programming in my vehicles. Fuzz-testing an ECU is very dangerous. People who fix their own cars typically have to rely on unauthorized leaks from auto company employees, which is how I get a lot of the codes for my Toyotas.
